MARCH MEET 2012>>THE EXPLORATION CONTINUES

Let's go ahead now and jump right back into my exploration of the 2012 March Meet at Famoso Raceway.

Starting us off we have another example of the ultra-popular Chevy Nova drag machine. It's a simple combination of light weight and huge aftermarket support that's made the Nova a drag strip favorite over the last few decades. …(read more)

Yesterday: DAYTONA BEACH, FL - FEBRUARY 25: Tony Stewart, driver of the #33 Oreo/Ritz Chevrolet, is pushed by Elliott Sadler, driver of the #2 OneMain Financial Chevrolet, during the NASCAR Nationwide Series DRIVE4COPD 300 at Daytona International Speedway on February 25, 2012 in Daytona Beach, Florida. Update: 11:18 am EST Monday – Let us see if we can get it in today. See you in the comments – if you’re not at work this evening that is. Just in case you haven’t heard yet, the race is set to start at approx. 7:00 pm EST as rain is in the forecast for this afternoon.

Update: 5:06 EST – The 54th Running of the Daytona 500 has been postponed until Noon EST on Monday. For the first time in event history, the race will not run on it’s scheduled day.

Weather permitting…

Assuming they do get it started (and completed) I think it is going to be a good race.

Picking a winner at any restrictor plate track is a crap shoot, but my favorite to win is Tony Stewart. He is starting to become the Dale Earnhardt of his generation, in that he can win anything at Daytona except the 500 and just like Earnhardt you shouldn’t bet against Stewart as he stands a good chance of winning the darn thing.

As far as a dark horse pick goes I’m going with Danica. No I’m not jumping on the band wagon, I think she has just as good of a shot as Trevor Bane did last year – in better equipment.

The reasons to pick Danica are tremendous;

  • She isn’t points racing so she can go for broke
  • She isn’t trying to impress a new sponsor by playing it safe, Go Daddy has been with her a while in open wheels and they’d love to see her go for broke
  • She is with an established Championship organization (Stewart/Haas) that has given her good equipment
  • She has a car owner in Tony Stewart that is also a favorite to win the 500 and he is not afraid to draft with her
  • She has a Nationwide owner in Dale Jr. that is also a favorite to win the 500 that is not afraid to draft with her either

Now we just have to wait and see if we can get the race in.

See you on the other side.

EVENT>>CRUISING YOKOHAMA: MORE RAZZLE DAZZLE

February 26, 2012 4 comments

Let's head back to the mean streets of Honmoku now for another look at last weekend's Hot Rod Razzle Dazzle. Even though the passion and attention to detail of Japan's Hot Rod and custom car builders is well known at this point, I was still amazed as I checked out the machines on Sunday….(read more)

    VIDEO: 2011: Finally Wrapped Up

    February 26, 2012 Leave a comment

Let me start off by saying: I’m really excited about this video. Not because I’m infatuated with myself or anything, but mainly because I got halfway through cutting this video and then had to leave the country as well as my editing behind. I managed to sneak back home long enough to sit down and finish this video, and it was wonderful to finally get it out of my brain!

Anyway, the video. This video is a compilation of all my favourite shots of the year. That being said, after I was finished cutting I felt like there were so many more that I could have put in, but I’m pretty sure that what I’ve cut together is the cream of the crop. Watching all this footage all over again made me really excited for the 2012 season, and I can’t wait to get it started. This year is going to be ridiculous, with some pretty huge tricks up the sleeves, so I hope you guys keep your eyes peeled for more action coming soon!

Thanks for watching, remember to hit the Like button on this page please!
